Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Controlling your personal information

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:

Job applicants

This section explains how PBT Safer Care Ltd ("we") uses the personal information of people who apply to work with us through the Recruitment page of this website, by email or by post. We are the data controller for this information. It applies in addition to the rest of this policy.

What we collect

When you apply, we collect the information you give us:

  • Contact details: your name, address, postcode, email address and telephone numbers.

  • Application details: the role you are applying for, whether you hold a full driving licence and any endorsements, any limits on your availability, whether you are willing to work overtime and weekends, and how much notice you must give your current employer.

  • Your education, training, qualifications, professional memberships, languages and IT skills, your employment history including reasons for leaving, and your interests and achievements.

  • Your CV and any supporting information you choose to add.

  • The names, positions, addresses and telephone numbers of your referees, and whether we may approach your current employer before making an offer.

  • Your answers to our screening questions, including whether you have any convictions that are not spent (see below), whether you have worked for or applied to us before, and whether you are willing to undergo a medical examination if you are offered employment.

  • Your declaration, including the name and date you type as your signature, and how you heard about the vacancy.

The optional "Not sure if it's right for you?" quick check is hosted on Microsoft Forms. It is separate from your application, and Microsoft processes your answers on our behalf.

You do not have to give us this information, but we cannot consider your application without the details marked as required on the form.

Criminal convictions

We ask whether you have any convictions (other than spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974) because the work involves caring for people who may be vulnerable. This is criminal offence data. We only use it where data protection law allows for employment and safeguarding purposes, we limit it to the people who need to see it, and we keep it in line with our data protection policies. We will tell you about any further pre-employment checks before we carry them out. The Recruitment page explains the identity and right to work checks we require.

Why we use your information

  • To consider your application, contact you, arrange interviews, take up references and decide whether to offer you a role. We do this to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you, and because we have a legitimate interest in recruiting suitable staff.

  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including right to work checks and our duties to safeguard the people we support.

  • To keep a record of our recruitment decisions and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not use automated decision-making to decide who we hire.

Who sees your information

Your application is seen by the people involved in recruiting for the role, such as our recruitment and management team. When you submit the online form, it is sent by email to our recruitment mailbox in our Microsoft 365 account. Our website is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles your submission on its way to us. We contact your referees as part of assessing your application. We do not sell your information or use it for marketing, and we only share it with others, such as regulators or the authorities, where the law requires or allows us to.

How long we keep it

If your application is unsuccessful, we keep it for 6 months after we make our decision, and then delete it. If you are offered and accept a role, your application becomes part of your staff record and is kept under our employment and record-keeping policies. If you ask us to delete your application sooner, we will do so unless we need to keep it for a legal reason.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of your information, to have it corrected, to ask us to delete it or restrict how we use it, and to object to us using it. You can also ask us to send it to you in a portable format where that applies. To use any of these rights, email [email protected] or write to Director, PBT Safer Care Ltd., 67 East Road, Longsight, Manchester, M12 5QY.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Cookies

What are Cookies?

A “cookie” is a small piece of information sent by a web server to store on a web browser so it can later be read back from that browser. This is useful for having the browser remember some specific information. Without cookies, websites and their servers have no memory. A cookie, like a key, enables swift passage from one place to the next. Without a cookie every time you open a new web page the server where that page is stored will treat you like a completely new visitor.

Session Cookies are also used by the server to store information about user page activities so users can easily pick up where they left off on the server’s pages. By default, web pages really don’t have any ‘memory’. Cookies tell the server what pages to show the user so the user doesn’t have to remember or start navigating the site all over again. Cookies act as a sort of “bookmark” within the site. Similarly, cookies can store ordering information needed to make shopping carts work instead of forcing the user to remember all the items the user put in the shopping cart.

Persistent or tracking Cookies are also employed to store user preferences. Many websites allow the user to customise how information is presented through site layouts or themes. These changes make the site easier to navigate and/or lets user leave a part of the user’s “personality” at the site.

Cookie security and privacy issues

Cookies are NOT viruses. Cookies use a plain text format. They are not compiled pieces of code so they cannot be executed nor are they self-executing. Accordingly, they cannot make copies of themselves and spread to other networks to execute and replicate again. Since they cannot perform these functions, they fall outside the standard virus definition.

A Cookie cannot be used to get data from your hard drive, get your email address or steal sensitive information about you as a person. Cookies can be used to track where you travel over a particular site, if the you want to disallow cookies you can do so with your browser.

These cookies aren’t used to identify you personally but they can remember activities and preferences chosen by you and your browser. You can manage cookies by controlling which cookies are saved or by deleting them, if you wish. For managing and deleting cookies for different browsers see here .

PLEASE NOTE: Some of the cookies PBT Safer Care Ltd use are essential for parts of the website to operate. You may block all cookies from this site, but parts of the website may not work and therefore reduce your ability to use the website.
